The inventors wanted an instrument that would enable them to have a great cup of caffeinated goodness wherever they were. This device packs an enormous punch for its slight weight and size (360 grams and 17.5cms in length). Whilst it does not compete with a proper coffee machine, there is not 20 kgs of steel contend with, and in our opinion the coffee is still exceptionally good.
It is simple to fill and operate, and the resulting coffee has a nice crema and beats any espresso you are going to get from a non-specialist coffee house.
Unless you are in Italy, perhaps. It doesn't require compressed air, N20 cartridges or electricity. Its internal semi-automatic piston unlocks from its carrying position and you press this to control the amount of extracted coffee.
Small quantities of water are injected into the coffee adapter and after a few pushes, optimal extraction pressure is achieved and a rich, bold espresso is extracted.
It has a built-in cup and scoop, so if you're backpacking, camping, on a long drive, you have all you need to enjoy an excellent espresso.

This is a great idea, and makes great coffee - just too little of it! It is a bit of a faff to load it up, then have to wash it all out, just for one small espresso. But then it is an espresso maker. Perfect for one person camping or on the move; I would definitely buy a bigger version that made two cups.(Read more)
